Eye Hospital 2 The new Eye Hospital opened as part of the New Hospitals Development in August 2009. On the ground floor of the new two-storey hospital the main reception area incorporates everything needed for outpatient visits including 24 examination rooms, five laser treatment rooms and two ultrasound rooms. On the first floor, the ophthalmic ward is made up of nine single rooms, an isolation room and a four bedded area together with consulting and treatment rooms. The day case unit includes six examination rooms, three interview rooms and a number of specialist treatment rooms. It provides a new model of care by replacing fragmented facilities across three buildings and producing a better patient experience by separating planned and emergency treatment.
